Anatomic
Facet Replacement System (AFRS™)
AFRS™ Design Rationale:
- The Anatomic Facet Replacement System (AFRS™) design
is based on an extensive study of intact facet
joints. By analyzing the facet joints, an implant was designed
to restore
and mimic natural kinematics and range of motion.
- The implant
is machined from a super-alloy with highly polished
articulating surfaces. The backing of the implant
that interfaces with the bone is coated
with material to promote bony in-growth.
- The implant
is secured to the bone with conventional pedicle screws.
Separate implants are used for both the
top and bottom facets. these implants come in a variety
of sizes to meet the patient’s specific anatomy.
- The AFRS™ utilizes precision instrumentation that
combined with anatomic implants enables surgeons to reconstruct
normal facet anatomy, restore physiological motion and stability
to the lumbar spine, while alleviating pain.
